The International Society of Business Leaders Recognizes Pieter de Bruin, MBA
Pieter de Bruin is currently working for PLP Electropar as a Senior Project Engineer. A certified Electrical Engineer, he holds more than three decades of experience in the operations, installation and maintenance of power systems and transmission lines. Some of his specialties include operational management, people and relationship management, advocating for safety in the workplace, developing and motivating staff, being an analytical problem solver, and overseeing quality control.
During his career, he has held positions of increasing responsibility in operational, financial and people management and has remained steadfast in the continuing development his business, management and team leadership skills through on-going tertiary education. A team player by nature, he truly enjoys leading and motivating his team to take pride in their work and perform to a very high standard. He takes pride in relating easily to others and enjoys diversity in the work environment.
Pieter has a background in Operational and people management in New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. With honed expertise in budget management, external people, design, technology, and people management, he is an affiliate of the Institute for Professional Engineers of New Zealand (IPENZ), South African Institute for Electrical Engineers, and the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
He holds a Master of Business Administration from Southern Cross University (2010), and completed twelve papers within the wheelhouse of management from Strategic Information Systems and Strategic Management to Human Resources and E-Commerce for Managers. In addition to his MBA, he completed educational opportunities specifically in Management such as National Diploma in Business (Level 5, 2004), Managing People, Management Development Program, as well as a Management Preparatory Program. In the field of Engineering, Pieter’s qualifications are extensive, including: National Diploma Electricity Supply (Level 5), Registered Workplace Assessor with ESITO, N4 Electrical, Registered Installation Electrician, and a N3 National Certificate for Installation.
Prior to his current role with PLP Electropar, he has held a myriad of leadership and management roles with Horizon Networks, AusNet Services, Transfield Services, McKay Electrical, Transpower, Transfield Services E&T, WEL Networks, Alstom, Bloemfontein Network Management Centre, Bloemfontein Control Centre (NMC), and several other roles that formed the skillset he offers today.
Within the next few years he’s looking forward to continue his ongoing education, develop new skills, and offer his expertise to others. Pieter credits his success to respect and excellent communication skills. When not working toward future goals, he enjoys travel and fishing in his spare time. He resides in New Zealand.
