The International Society of Business Leaders Recognizes Wayne Ramon Oliver
Wayne Ramon Oliver is employed by a very reputable company, UCC Holding’s in Qatar. The group has a conglomerate of companies (13 companies) which are under his portfolio, that being industries like i.e. Major Construction Projects, Infrastructure, Roads, Bridges, Tunneling, Facility Management, Security, Marine Projects, Oil & Gas, Landscaping and Manufacturing Factories (Marble / Wood Joinery / Steel Structures / Aluminum Frames for windows and Doors etc.). Wayne has been resident of the Middle East (ME) for six (6) years, since 2014.
He served in the SA Air Force (SAAF) for 21 years and started his illustrious career at the age of 17 years old as an Airman in the Air Force Gymnasium Valhalla Pretoria in 1987. He advanced and qualified himself as a Certified Artisan in Fitting, Turning & Welder. He ended his SAAF career as a Lieutenant Colonel (LtCol) as the Senior Staff Officer (SSO) Safety, Health, Environmental, Risk & Quality (SHERQ) in the Directorate Aviation Safety, reporting to Chief of the SA Airforce and Director Aviation Safety (DAS). Wayne is also an Aviation Safety Trained officer with experience on helicopter squadrons and Air Servicing Unit workshops. He has qualified and advanced himself comprehensively in HSE and Leadership over the past few years ensuring that he is adequately trained and knowledgeable in his field. Wayne is a fast learner and adapts to challenges to ensure maximum output effectively.
Wayne gained exposure in the operation of Pilatus PT6 engines, Hercules aircraft test benches, and managed a Component Workshop for aircraft components. His work has not gone unrecognized, as he was instrumental in winning the Best South African Air Force Base of the Year Award in 2004 and secured a South African Air Force (SAAF) Merit Performance Award in 2003. He was bestowed with Best Achiever of the Month Award for the Mobile, Deployment Wing, 3 times during the year 2003 and managed to scoop up 3 X Medals for Good Service, 10 & 20 years’ service medals for outstanding services rendered. Wayne managed to successfully ensure a Zero Injury Rate for 48 Projects via effective and proper implementation of H&S policies, standards and HSE Management System in the SAAF.
Some of his education includes: Masters Certificate Program in Project Management – George Washington University (Equivalent to Higher Diploma), Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Diploma in Safety Management, Diploma in Risk Management, Diploma in Food Safety and a Diploma in Management. Wayne has managed to secure professional membership with some illustrious institutions like Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (Technical IOSH UK), International Institute of Risk Management (IIRSM – UK), South African IOSH, Lean Construction Institute of Qatar (LCI), International Environmental Management Association (IEMA UK) and the ISoBL.
As the Group HSE Director, Wayne is functionally responsible for over 200 Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) professional that he manages, he has staffed a corporate team of 9 HSE professionals and lead auditor professionals supporting his department in executing, delivering and providing administrative and professional HSE services to CEOs, General Managers (GMs) and Managing Directors (MDs). Wayne reports directly to his Group CEO ensuring his departments HSE objectives and KPi’s are aligned with the greater business intent and Health & Safety goals.
Wayne was instrumental in assisting the development and design of the live HSE and COVID-19 dashboards for the entire company, which he presents to the owners of our company during Board Meetings. The dashboards cover many elements related to Leading and Lagging HSE indicators.
