ENERGY MEXICAN LAWYER

Marcela Marquez is the Partner at RM Iuris Corp. She’s been with the business for two months and has over thirty years of professional experience in law. Marcela says that she wanted to start her own business, because she believes it’s the best way to help clients as a lawyer. She holds an associate’s degree in law from Cambridge University and is a member for the Women’s International Trade Association (WITA) and an arbitrator for the Chamber of Commerce and Institute of Maritime Law. She attends conferences at the American Institute on the topic of Energy Reform.

In the next three to five years, Marcela is committed to the growth of her law firm and intends to hire more employees. She believes that her keys to success are due to her hard work, ambition, enjoying her work and to being goal-oriented. Opening up her own law practice and becoming a member of the general council at Petroleum Mexico International (PMI) she considers the highlights of her career.

Marcela is looking forward to networking and connecting with other like-minded professionals, and to gaining the recognition and credibility of being associated with the International Society of Business Leaders.

Law degree, from Anahuac University, with specialization in energy and maritime law at the University of Cambridge, England. She was General Counsel of P.M.I., the international trading arm of PEMEX, for more than 20 years, participating in international millionaire transactions, with international oil companies. Specialist in corporate law, Secretary of the Board of Directors of more than 23 companies of the PMI Group. Great knowledge in corporate governance and compliance of companies incorporated in Mexico and abroad, since she received a training in the city of New York, in the law firm called Height Gardner Poor &; Havens, now Holland & Knight.

Qualified Arbitrator by the Chamber of Commerce of Mexico (CAM). Member of several international associations such as WISTA (Women International Shipping Trading Association). Mrs. Marquez has published several articles about energy and trading of hydrocarbons, the most recent in the English e-magazine called All About Shipping, Co UK, entitled: The New Legal Regime for Hydrocarbons Market in Mexico.
