Andrea Ferrara is the Chief Executive Officer of Logistics & Automation Consulting Ltd. (LAC srl), a technical consulting business that bases its strength on the advanced skills of university nature, which were founded by faculty members of the engineering school at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. He co-founded the company in January 2012. (LAC srl) is a management and industrial consulting company founded on the initiative of an academic staff appointed at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
The foundation of the company represents the actual fulfillment of the efforts of transferring technology towards businesses lasting over a decade, which saw the founders of LAC constantly engaged on projects financed by local and multinational companies, having as its objective the transformation of sophisticated and scientific cutting edge methodologies in analysis and management tools that can be used in industrial fields. LAC addresses to manufacturers, logistics operators and technology providers.
The areas of focus include the design and management of production systems, production planning, optimization and supply chain management, the internal distribution and logistics network, up to the developing and implementation of automation solutions for production and logistics. The continuous updating of skills resulting from the implied affiliation with the academic and scientific world on international level, combined with the ability to understand the operational needs of the industrial context, make LAC the ideal partner for companies that want to be a step ahead of its competitors in terms of effectiveness and efficiency of production and logistics processes.

Prior to the founding of this groundbreaking company, Andrea worked with New Holland CE – CNH – Fiat Industrial and was a research assistant and Ph.D. candidate for four-and-a-half years at the Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia.Andrea earned a Master of Management Engineering in 2010 and a Ph.D. in Industrial Innovation Engineering with a concentration in Management Engineering in 2015, both from the Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia.
He possesses a reputable level of expertise in logistics systems design, business analysis, supply chain optimization, and data analysis. He has authored several publications, including, “Simulating Continuous Time Production Flows in Food Industry by Means of Discrete Event Simulation,” in the International Journal of Food Engineering (2015) and “Efficiency estimation of LIFO Storage Systems Managed with Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs),” in the Proceedings of 21st International Conference on Production Research (2011). He fluently speaks English and Italian.
In his spare time, he enjoys travel, sports, ongoing research, and culture. He resides in Modena, Italy.
